European Masters Qualifying System

1. The European Masters will be played with 8 players during the middle weekend of the European Go Congress.

2. Only players with European nationality can earn places.

3. The cut-off date for qualification is 31st May prior to the Congress.

4. One place for the Masters is available at the edition of each qualifying event that takes place or ends in the 12 months prior to the cut-off.

5. The place is allotted to the winners at the end of each qualifying event.

6. Players who have qualified from earlier events are discounted. If there is a tie for the place, the player with the highest rating on the rating list valid immediately before the event is selected. Ties on rating are broken by lot.

7. If no player is selected from among the winners of an event, then the place is allotted to players placed immediately below the winners (subject to clause 6).

8. Extra qualifying places may be decided by executive provided they are announced before the middle weekend of the previous European Go Congress.

9. On 31st May, unallocated places will be allotted to the highest placed players on the rating list valid on that day, provided those players have played in two A-class European events during the previous 12 months. Rating ties are broken by lot.

10. In case of players not taking their allotted places, reserve players will be selected as in clause 9.
