Team-tournament - 1st ZHU GANG Cup - Guangzhou

Here's a new Team Championship, for Professionals and Amateurs. It is like a Team-World Championship with amazing prize-money, also for amateur-teams. Date: 19th - 26th December 2013, following the SportAccord World Mind Games in Beijing.

Tournament shall happen in the future every two years (next time sure not at our christmas-days) and will be the tournament with the highest prize-money in China ! Flight-tickets will not be paid by the organizer, but the prize-money is high enough...

For details look at the attached documents.

Thank you.
Can you please explain the prize system?
If I understand correctly, for getting amateur #1 prize, it's necessary to win 3 matches from 5 during the final stage.
Example of the table with 16 players and 5 rounds:

Place #8 is with 3-2. So, it's possible to get it even without winning matches against Asian pro teams, right? If we imagine that Asian pro teams will share places 1-7.

Dear Alexandre,
yes, I agree with your opinion. Also for me the prize-system is unclear. Additionally I don't believe on the 16 teams. I assume less, about 12 best case. And what happens then ? How to win three games out of 5 with less than 16 teams but 7 Pro-teams ?

Otherwise I talked to the main organizer (= president of Guangzhou Go-Club) of the tournament about one month ago. And he very clearly said that the amateur-teams for sure will win prize-money, high prize-money, sure more than the travelling expenses.

I will try to get this case with the three wins, two wins, ... more clearly. But I am very sure that announced prize-money will be given to the amateur-teams. So I don't see a risk for strong European amateur-teams.

The organizers added special awards - look at the red marked sentences of the attached document. Deadline for sending appropriate documents about the development of Go in your country is 9th December 2013. Sorry for the late information.

More news:
-- Like assumed it will be 5 rounds Swiss system, not round robin.
-- About the prize-money for the amateur-teams and the related numbers of wins:
a) 3 wins (in the final stage with 16 teams) --> 100.000 RMB
b) 2 wins --> 50.000 RMB (all teams with two wins get it !)
c) 1 win --> 30.000 RMB (all teams with one win)

Hello Martin,

Is there a web site for this event? If not where can we find the name of the players who will be there?

Thanks in advance.
