Bled 2000

Toyota European GO Tour has been played between 5th - 7th May 2000 on Bled. Bled is one of the biggest touristics centre in Slovenia. Hotel Astoria is traditionally place of GO tournament.

There were almost 60 players from all go centres from Slovenija and from 9 European countries. Extra strong was master group, IV. to VI. dan group with 19 players. We were surprised about participation of players under 10 kyu. Three players achieved 5 points in 6 rounds. They shared also first and second place and took 3th place. Vladimir DANEK and Tibor POSCAI shared 1st place and Gert SCHNIDER took 3rd place.

[Diana Koszegi had four wins.]

The best woman player was Diana KOSZEGI, on 5th place. She has a great future. Last year Diana was already best European player at the World Amateur Go Championship. The best home player was Eduard EKART who shared 6th place.

On opening ceremony we invited members of local community, sponsors and journalists. Apart from main tournament we also organised lightning tournament, where played 20 players. The winner of the tournament was Wei Chang Hu, second was Gert Schnider and third was Mirko Rupel. For the first 5 players we had practical prices.

One of sponsors paid us a banquet on a tournament (drink and coffee). Go results were published in most popular newspaper in Slovenia (Delo), sport magazine (Ekipa šport) and local newspaper (Gorenjski glas). For the first Toyota tournament we are very satisfied.
