The 3rd edition of the Silk Road International City Weiqi International Tournament will be held in Urumqi, China, from 1 to 6 September. In order to commemorate the historic trading route, the Silk Road, this tournament invites up to 30 European players (3 dan and stronger) as well as Chinese amateur players.

In order to commemorate the historic trading route, the Silk Road, this tournament invites up to 30 European players (3 dan and stronger) as well as Chinese amateur players.
If you are interested in participating, please send your registration to Viktor Lin by 30 June, so that there is enough time to organise your visa!
In the first edition (in Xi’an in 2014), EGF pros Pavol Lisy 1p and Ali Jabarin 1p created an uproar throughout Chinese media by getting 1st (60.000 RMB ~7800€) and 2nd place (30.000 RMB) respectively.

Although in 2014 only those participating in the CEGO Academic programme took part at the tournament, the second edition in 2015 attracted 18 European players, with 4 finishing in the top 8. Amongst others, Pavol Lisy 1p and Mateusz Surma 1p shared the 2nd and 3rd place.
