The 46th World Amateur Go Championship (WAGC) takes place from September 6th to 13th in Mungyeong, Korea, hosted by the Korea Baduk Association and the International Go Federation. Twelve years after Gyeongju 2014, the “Olympics of amateur Go” is back in Korea.

53 players from 53 countries and territories will compete over 8 rounds (Swiss system, 60 minutes main time + 3 × 30 seconds byo-yomi) at the Onnuri Sports Center. After the arrival day and the opening ceremony on Monday September 7th, the games are played from Tuesday 8th to Friday 11th, two rounds a day, at 9:30 and 14:00 Korean time (2:30 and 7:00 CEST – a good excuse to get up early!). The award ceremony takes place on Friday afternoon, followed by a Pair Go tournament in the evening.
