The biggest European Go event takes place in Ankara, Türkiye, from July 25th to August 8th. Around 600 participants are expected to join the event.

For two weeks, Go lovers and enthusiasts will have the chance to play in various and numerous go events, meet with players from all over the world and enjoy the surroundings of Ankara!

There will be as well visiting professional teachers from Asia, ready to give insights and advice on how to improve.

In the highlights of the event, we can find of course the EGF Go Development Summit, with talks and discussions over Go related topics!

But in the most awaited events for the ones not visiting the EGC, there will be a few broadcast, which we can already list here.

The European Championship 2026 (July 26 – August 2)

With a top 32 players, the European Championship will decide who will succeed to Mateusz Surma 4p, who won last year in Warsaw, Poland. This year, the field is paved with experienced strong players and youth rising talents, it is very promising. If everything goes fine, all boards shall be broadcast, and chosen matches will be reviewed on Twitch.

The Pandanet Go European Team Championship (August 3-4)

After a full online season of league fights, the final part of this huge team event comes to the EGC with 4 teams: Czechia, Ukraine, France and Germany. They will face each other for two days, trying their best to leave their country’s name in the history of this tournament.

The top table will also be broadcast and reviewed.

The Saijo European Youth Go Tournament (3-4 August)

a recurring event of the EGC for youth player, integrated in the SEYGO tour. U18 players from all countries will fight in a 4 rounds event!

The EGC 2026 Main Open (All along!)

Another big part of the EGC is of course the Main Open, the largest Go tournament in Europe, for all levels! It will run for two weeks, with a small break in the middle for the Weekend Tournament. Here, several top boards will also be broadcast.

The Nations’ Cup (July 30-31)

This event, which is a recent add-on to the EGC, sees teams of same nationality including a youth and a women player, face each other (5 vs 5) in a knock-out tournament. This is a rare chance to have European teams facing Asian or American teams in a face to face event! Perhaps some games will be broadcast.

The Pair Go Tournament (6-7 August)

One more key event of EGCs’, the Pair Go, supported by Japan, is a lot of fun, since the teams are often mixed, contrary to the usual European Pair Go Championship! There, anyone can play with anyone, which often leads to the men desperately looking for women players prior to the event and then multi-cultural teams discovering what it means to share a brain.

Here again, top boards might be broadcast.
