Mateusz Surma 3p wins the 1st Transylvanian Go Cup!
The first Transylvanian Go Cup took place in the city of Bistrița, Romania, on June 6-7, just after the European Pair Go Championship. 18 players participated in this event.
This tournament was included in the Grand Prix circuit as a Bonus point B event.

From the very first round, things didn't go as planned for the local Champion, Denis Dobranis 6d, who was defeated by the talented youth player Robert-Andrei Grosu 4d!
In the 2nd round, Robert lost to Mateusz Surma 3p. And in the 4th round, Denis now lost to Mateusz, while Robert-Andrei defeated Charlie Akerblom 5d from Sweden...
But, in round 4...Darius Dobranis 3d got a chance to avenge his brother by outplaying Robert-Andrei! as it happened, after the 4th round, both Denis and Andrei were at 2/4 fighting for the second place, after Mateusz. You can just imagine the suspense!

Eventually, the undefeated Mateusz took the first place, followed by Denis and Robert-Andrei, both on 3/5.

Congratulations!

Amongst the other players, we can note the excellent performance of Diana Mastan 2kyu, who managed rather well against 1d and 3d players!
