Luxembourg holds Go tournaments again

Last month, after a long break, the university campus in Belval, Luxembourg, hosted the eagerly awaited 8th Luxembourg Go Tournament. Players from a total of 12 clubs from 6 different countries came together to participate in 4 rounds of intense Go competition at the beautiful Learning Center of the University of Luxembourg.

The event was organized in collaboration between the Confucius Institute Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Go Association and the Badischer Go-Verein from Karlsruhe/Germany, underlining the international reach and co-operation within the Go community.
After four thrilling rounds, Jonas Welticke from Cologne/Germany secured victory with an impressive performance and took home the title of winner. He was followed in second place by Andreas Götzfried from Luxembourg, who also put in a strong performance and challenged the competition.

Particularly noteworthy was the strong presence of players from Trier/Germany, who made up the largest number of players with 12 out of a total of 32 participants, including many beginners who were taking their first steps in the fascinating world of Go.

The organization of the tournament ran smoothly, thanks to dedicated personalities such as Laurent Heiser and Haojiang Zou, both from Luxembourg and former players from Karlsruhe/Germany, who acted as referees and provided the players with valuable reviews. Wilhelm Bühler from Karlsruhe ensured that the draw went smoothly, which contributed to a fair and exciting tournament.

The players were delighted with the successful tournament and are already looking forward to next year, when the Go community will meet again for an exciting competition.
