New record set at the Russian Championship 2017!

The Russian Championship was held from 13 to 18 November 2017 in St. Petersburg, in the familiar Azimut Hotel that also hosted, amongst others, the EGC 2016. The favourite, Ilja Shikshin 1p, won the tournament, albeit not without difficulties.  Read more...

Shanglü Cup 2017

The Shanglü Cup is China’s biggest amateur tournament. It is hosted by the Hangzhou Qiyuan, and held in their huge 34 floor building, which combines a go school with a hotel. The attractive prize pool of roughly 35,000 € gathered 277 players together from 27th of October to 1st of November.  Read more...

Seong-jin Kim dominates EGCC Anniversary Tournament

From Friday 20 to Sunday 22 October the European Go Cultural Centre in Amstelveen organised several events in celebration of their 25th anniversary. One of those events was the EGCC Anniversary Tournament, which was dominated by German resident Seong-jin Kim 8d. In a field of 87 players from 15 different countries, of which no less than 38 were dan players, Korean-born Kim defeated all opposition. Second place was claimed by Artem Kachanovskyi 1p and third place went to Lukáš Podpěra 7d.  Read more...
