The 52nd European Go Congress

The 52nd European Go Congress was held in Leksand in the centre of Sweden.

The final of the European Masters was between Russian Andrei Kulkov and German Frans-Josef Dickhut. It was won by FJ.

The 421 player Weekend Tournament was won by Kim Joon-Sang from Korea 5 wins; top europeans were Catalin Taranu and Cornel Burzo.

718 players took part in the main tournament, including the usual strong Koreans. European Open Champion was Park Jong-Wook with 9/10. Second with 8/10 was Hong Seok-Ui. European Champion was Catalin Taranu. He won by 1 sos point from Alexandr Dinerchtein, and on equal 7 wins with Ilya Shikshin and Pal Balogh.

There were several side events, including a 13x13 where Francesco Marigo was the winner and a 9x9 won by L.C. Nicolaie. Hong Seok-Ui retained the rapid tournament title with 7/9.
